Gigi Saul Guerrero has been praised as one of the top emerging directors in the horror genre by Empire, Dread Central, Fangoria, and Bloody Disgusting. Guerrero is the co-founder of Luchagore Productions in Vancouver, Canada.
Born and raised in Mexico City, she is also known by fans as “La Muñeca Del Terror” in Latin America. She is a Mexican genre director, filmmaker, and actress now living in Vancouver, Canada. Guerrero was described by Variety and L’ATTITUDE LATINXT as part of the new wave of Latino talent, and she scored a First Look Deal with Jason Blum’s BLUMHOUSE PRODUCTIONS. Gigi graduated with honors from Vancouver’s Capilano University BOSA CENTRE FOR FILM AND ANIMATION, where she recently received the Alumni Award for Excellence. Today, Guerrero is also a current and student-favorite directing instructor at the prestigious Vancouver Film School.
Guerrero directed an action-packed episode for The Purge season 2. Her feature debut, Culture Shock, for Blumhouse Productions Television, won Best Primetime Movie at the Imagen Awards and remains 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. More recently, her genre-bending fun flick Bingo Hell is available on Amazon Prime, where she co-wrote and directed.
The year 2023 was incredibly busy for Guerrero, culminating with her directing the highly anticipated biopic feature about the iconic singer Jenni Rivera, and directing the pilot episode of Mexico’s most iconic genre series, La Hora Marcada reboot. The year ended on a high note with two classic horror anthologies, VHS85 and Satanic Hispanics, featuring memorable segments directed by Guerrero.
Guerrero has also ventured into unscripted shows and continues to be invited in front of the camera for fan-favorite unscripted episodics such as Eli Roth’s History of Horror, Shudder’s Horror’s Greatest & 101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments of All Time, and the popular feature franchise In Search Of Darkness II, just to name a few.
Guerrero started her career with several genre short films, including the gore-fest El Gigante and viral hits like A Luchagore Christmas and Evil Dead in 60 Seconds. In 2014, Guerrero participated in the Mexican horror anthology México Bárbaro with its Day of the Dead segment while still in film school. Her series with Warner Brothers/Stage 13, La Quinceañera, won the Audience Award at the 2017 Morbido Film Festival.
Guerrero is also known not just for her talent behind the camera but for her beauty in front of it. She has posed for large magazines. She is also an actress, most commonly known for her voice-over work such as Stella in Netflix’s Angry Birds, Super Monsters, Marvel Superhero Adventures as Spider-Girl, and fan-favorite character Varzia in the video game Warfare. Her first leading role is in Peacock’s new animated series Supernatural Academy as Mischa Lebron.
