Mariel Sosa
FILM: ANDAS DANZANDO POR AHÍ
Mariel Sosa is a Peruvian film director and producer. A graduate of the Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television in Los Angeles, her connection to nature and her curiosity about the human condition deepened through her travels around the world. Driven by that passion, she directed her short film Máxima: This Land of Mine(2018), which portrays the power struggle between a peasant woman and a billionaire mining company. The film premiered at the Austin Film Festival and won the Jury Prize at the 2019 Newport Beach Film Festival.
Sosa’s storytelling often explores themes of cultural identity, family, and memory. Her projects have been recognized internationally by the Raindance Film Festival, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Hollyshorts, and Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival, among others. She strives to empower diverse voices and women through their stories and personal experiences in the film industry. Her work has been published in renowned magazines, including The Hollywood Reporter, MovieMaker, and Variety.
Currently, Sosa collaborates with organizations to produce branded content that promotes sustainability and social justice.
