PANEL: Soundtracks: The Power of Music in Film

Janet Lopez is an Emmy-nominated Music Supervisor and founder of AGAVE, Music & Media, a Music Supervision company based in Los Angeles. Janet has dedicated her career and love of music to the craft of Music Supervision and for the past 20 years has earned a valuable reputation within the entertainment industry for being a smart and creative team player. The inspiration behind AGAVE, draws from her proud cultural upbringing and the perseverance toward meaningful and lasting work.

 As part of her tenure in the business of Film/Music, Janet served for nearly 17 years as an integral part of Neophonic, one of the leading Music Supervision companies in Los Angeles and long standing music service department for HBO/Max. There Janet collaborated on beloved and world renowned projects such as The White Lotus, The Gilded Age, Oslo, The Twilight Zone and VEEP just to name a few. She then went on to serve as a Vice President of Music for both 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures as part of The Walt Disney Company, where she worked on high profile films such as 20th Century’s thriller No One Will Save You (starring Kaitlyn Dever), and the critically acclaimed comedy Quiz Lady (starring Awkwafina, Sandra Oh, Will Ferrell and Jason Schwartzman).

Through this combined leadership experience and as a thriving Music Supervisor, Janet has collaborated on over 60 films/mini-series/television series with numerous studios at various budgets. She’s also had the pleasure of working with some of the most respected and acclaimed filmmakers in the industry including Carlton Cuse, Gillian Flynn, Mike White, Jeremy Kleiner, Jessica Yu, Jessica Elbaum, Jen D’Angelo, Greg Yaitanes, Grace Gilroy, Jessica Rhoades, Gina Rodriguez, McG, Sacha Gervasi, Kevin Messick, Justin Adler, Jeff Morton, Evan Hayes and many more. Throughout her career Janet has also successfully developed and maintained relationships within the film and TV music communities, ranging from major/independent labels and publishers to artists, musicians and songwriters; several of which have led to notable customized music for various projects such as the reimagined Warner Bros film Father of the Bride and the dynamic Kosasport Lip Fuel ad campaign for Kosas Cosmetics. Currently Janet is working on the anticipated new Carlton Cuse and Zoe Robyn series for Netflix titled, Pulse (starring Willia Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell and Justina Machado).
