PANEL: The Power of the Written Word: A Conversation with Erick Castrillon
Erick Castrillon is a Colombian-American screenwriter, director, and musician.
Castrillon staffed the writers room of 90 Minutos, a television show produced by Propagate and Peacock. After opening at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival as part of the U.S. Dramatic Competition, Blast Beat, his first feature film was picked up by Sony Pictures. Castrillon consulted on the Oscar Winning animated film, Encanto, produced by Walt Disney Pictures. In 2018 he directed the award-winning short film, Hacienda Paraíso, as part of the NALIP Latino Lens Incubator. In 2017, he was part of the FOX Writers Lab where he developed an original horror pilot. In 2015 he was part of Film Independent’s featured program, Project Involve, where he co-wrote the multi-award-winning short film, “Vámonos,” which is now published in the Criterion Channel. Castrillon is working on directing his next feature, Deerfield Beach. Castrillon earned his M.F.A. at the University of Southern California, and his B.A. at Florida International University. He’s represented by Carlos Bobadilla at Valor Entertainment Group.
