PANEL: Turning a Viral Moment into an Animation Empire: A conversation with Vivienne Medrano

Vivienne Medrano, also known by her online alias VivziePop, is an independent filmmaker, creator, animator, writer, voice actress, and artist. She is best known for her musical television series HAZBIN HOTEL and HELLUVA BOSS. HAZBIN HOTEL, developed by A24 alongside her production company Spindle Horse, premiered in January 2024 on Amazon Prime. The pilot garnered over 106 million views on YouTube and within the first 24 hours of the Prime premiere date announcement, the show, Prime Video and Vivienne’s accounts generated 8M total views and 1.2M total engagements. The series has been greenlit for a season 2 of which Vivienne serves as the showrunner, creator and EP. Following the success of HAZBIN HOTEL, Vivienne and Spindlehorse have entered into a 3 year first-look deal with Amazon. In addition, HELLUVA BOSS, which currently lives on YouTube, won a 2023 Streamy Award for Best Animated Series with season 2. Vivienne was highlighted in Variety’s 2024 Comedy Impact Report and more information can be found on her YouTube page. She also graduated from SVA in NYC and has worked on freelance music videos along with numerous other projects.
