
Michael Shaw
Michael Shaw is a multi-skilled executive with over 15 years in commercial growth, brand development, customer engagement, venue management, and team leadership within sports and entertainment. He is known for his collaborative approach, inspirational leadership, and strategies that achieve business growth and empower executives and top talent to exceed expectations and achieve organizational success.
After numerous leadership roles within global brands, Michael is now working as a strategic advisor to premier sports & entertainment, gaming, and technology clients. Previously, Michael joined the Hard Rock Stadium Enterprise in 2022 as vice president of brand marketing with the Miami Dolphins, Hard Rock Stadium and its properties including the Miami Open and Formula 1® Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix. In his role, he led more than 60 creative and cross functional staff within the organization’s marketing, digital media, video, brand assets and creative departments.
Prior to Hard Rock, Michael was hired by Derek Jeter to drive brand awareness, growth and fan engagement. As the Senior Vice President, Head of Brand, Experience, and Innovation for the Miami Marlins, Michael oversaw the Nike creative campaign to launch the inaugural MLB City Connect program for the Marlins. Michael also served as the Chair of the Innovation Committee and the Co-Chair of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee and had organizational oversight over ballpark experience and ballpark operations functions.
Before joining the Marlins, Michael was the Principal of Business Development at Amazon, where he developed go-to-market strategies and led discussions with the NFL, NHL, and NASCAR. Prior to Amazon, Michael served as the Head of Sports Partnerships at Groupon, and was the leader of a portfolio of business partners across North America, including Major League Baseball Advanced Media, the National Basketball Association, Major League Soccer, and the NCAA. In addition to his business development experience, Michael also has an extensive sports media background and previously worked for ESPN. Working in the Programming and Acquisitions group at ESPN, Michael was responsible for negotiating content agreements, managing pro league relationships, developing scheduling strategies, and creating the NBA schedule on ESPN and ABC.
Michael is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, and a proud graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Previously, Michael made multiple appearances on ESPN’s, True Hoop TV to do what he loves most, talk sports. Additionally, Michael has been a featured speaker and panelist throughout the country, including a TEDx feature, Adweek keynotes, SXSW, Sports Business Journal Summits, and a guest on The Wharton Sports Business Radio Show on Sirius XM. Michael is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and has lived in many different cities around the country, spending several years in Manhattan, NY before relocating to South Florida with his wife, Janice, since 2017.
